Hello, I want to work with Xeams in exchange online hybrid mode.

I have an exchange online domain and with this you can have some cloud account and some local accounts.

Exchenge online takes care of inbound and outbound mail routing.

At the moment i have half tasks working.

Email from local users to local users wokrs ok

Email from local users to internet (gmail) users works ok and routed through office 365

Email from cloud users (office 365) to local users works ok

Email from internet (gmail) users to local xeams users works ok routed through office 365

The probles is mails from local users to office365 users belonging to the same domain. Xeams think this mail are internal and are not routed.

I try with standalone and hybrid mode with CustomSmtpRouting without success.

Does anyone know how to make it work?

Regards.

Ted

Ted,

First, check https://www.xeams.com/saving-licensing-cost-for-exchange-online.htm to see if the method on this page helps.

In addition to Xeams locally, do you also have an Exchange running in hybrid mode locally?

Since you did not mention an on-premise Exchange, I assume you don't have it. My answer below is based on the following assumption.

  • Run Xeams in Hybrid mode.
  • Under SMTP Configuration, specify your Microsoft's hostname to forward messages once processed by Xeams.
  • Users in Xeams must be created as Strict Local, as described on https://www.xeams.com/strict-local-users.htm.

Now, emails where the recipient is local will stay in Xeams, while others will be delivered to Exchange Online.

Wooowww it wokrs great!!!! Thanks

I'm not running on-premise Exchange.

Is there any way to let a user (or admin in the worst case) to redirect an email to another acount?

For example, all emails received to aa@domain.com gets redirected to bb@domain.com and abc@gmail.com with aa@domain.com being a user account, not a distribution list?

Thanks again!!!

Ted,

I am glad to know it work.

Try the following steps to setup forwarding.

  • Log in as the administrator
  • Click Server Configuration/Manage Distribution List
  • Add a list with the following values:
  • The word "self" will ensure the message is sent to aa, bb and abc.
