Clear Out Blocked User IP Addresses in Xeams

By default, Xeams will block IP addresses from authenticating if it detects too many incorrect login attempts from an IP address. Once an IP address is blocked, it will reject every combination of user id/password, even the valid ones.

Occasionally, a user might accidentally input a wrong password too many times (for example, user forgot to turn off caps lock when entering their password), resulting in their IP address being blocked by Xeams.
One can fix this problem by clearing the blocked IP address in the Xeams Admin Console.

Steps to unblock IP Addresses

  • Log into the Web Console using the admin account.
  • Go to Server Configuration.
  • In the drop down menu, click on Manage Alerts.
  • There will be a section called Password Alerts on the left side. If there are any IP addresses that are blocked, it will display the amount of blocked addresses here.
  • Click on the hyper link to clear the IP addresses.

Friendly IP

Refer to Friendly IP address page to define trusted IP addresses. IP addresses listed in this file will never be blocked.

Clearing Blocked IP Addresses

There are three ways to unblock an IP address:

  1. Go to Server Configuration/Manage Alerts. You will see a link that displays blocked IPs and an ability to remove them.
  2. Wait about 10 minutes from the last attempt.
  3. Restart Xeams

Blocked Time

The default value is 10 minutes starting from the last attempt not first - meaning if someone is continuously attacking with less than 10 minute gaps in between, their IP will always remain blocked. It will get unblocked 10 minutes AFTER they stop attacking.

Follow the steps below to increase this period:

So there isn't a way to just clear a specific IP address? It's all or none? Is there any way to whitelist specific addresses so they can't be blacklisted?

Is there a way to increase the amount of time that an IP address is blocked?
