From what I understand, that is exactly what the user is trying to establish. Only local mail which would not require any of the above (if anything it would be safer).

In any case if;
Even if it did require Internet Access, wouldn't it be possible for you just to supply us with the list of IP's that was required for Xeams to operate in its update ring?
One could then simply apply IP FW rules.
